CHAPTER 7
Adommy <3

*Tommy's POV*

I waited in the nurse's office until I heard the second bell ring, telling me that everyone had to be in class by now. I sighed and thanked her once again, leaving warily. I didn't care if you were supposed to be in class, some kids skipped and I was a little scared of running into Collin again. My heart was beating faster, not only from my fear, but because there was only about 45 minutes to see Adam. He just about never left my mind. I can hear his silky voice, see his warm smile, feel his comforting touch…

-Seventh period: study hall-

I had to stay after sixth to get the work that I missed. But luckily it was a quick walk to the library, thank God. I poked my head through the doors then my whole body and looked for him. I sighed when I didn't spot him right away. I didn't want to sit by anyone, or sit where he couldn't find me. Then, a cool hand touched my arm and I flinched then tightened. I cringed waiting for a blow to the head.
"Hey," a low voice said. I still didn't turn around. The hand released me and the figure turned in front of me. I liberated the air from my lungs and smiled with relief; Adam. "Everything okay?" he asked me, a half-smirk tugging his lips.
"Yeah," I shrugged. He glanced and frowned at my damp, flat hair which I had forgotten about for a moment. "Let's sit down and I'll tell you," I said. He nodded and we went to an area to ourselves. We could talk there, but quietly. I took a seat first, then he brought himself a chair directly across from mine. Those blue eyes of his were filled with curiosity and thought. I couldn't pull my gaze away. "Alright," he started, "tell me what happened." The look of concern on his face was one I hadn't seen in a while. It was not a look my parents showed, not of friends, teachers, classmates; but a person I had only met hours ago. I was sad and amazed at the same time.
I looked at my shoes and brushed my hair with my fingers of my right hand while my left was resting on my knee. He leant forward, waiting for me to begin.
I spoke in a quiet voice. "At lunch today, Collin and a few guys poured my drink on my head and threw me around. Nothing big." I shrugged, still looking down. His expression changed and his eyes narrowed.
"Tommy," he said. I looked up and met his gaze. "Nobody deserves that, nobody. It might not have got you in the hospital, but it's a big deal." His eyes had a little hurt in them. He cared about me? "Collin needs to be put in his place. I'll beat the shit out of that bastard if he ever touches you again."
I was at a loss for words. Not once in my life has anyone said anything merely like that to me before. My heart filled with warmth and my fear was eased. I know he was serious, but a smile crept its way onto me. "Why are you smiling?" he asked, now doing it himself.
"It's just," I paused. He took my hand into his, locking our fingers and smiled wider. Chills were sent everywhere throughout myself. "I have never had anyone say something like that to me."
"What, Collin needs to be put in his place?"
"No. I meant about that you would beat him up if he touched me." A blush flied my cheeks. He still held my hand.
"I would do that in a heartbeat," Adam replied. I was kind of glad he didn't ask me about why I hadn't heard anything like that because it would involve my parents and that's never a good thing…
"So," he began, shifting in his seat, "I need to know where you live if I am going to pick you up tomorrow."
Oh, right. I almost forgot about that! "Oh! Okay," I said and I let go of his hand to grab a piece of paper and a pen, writing my address down. "Here," And I handed it to him. He read it carefully. "I need to know when you'll be there so I can get ready, though. And it's about a 5 minute drive to school."
"Okay. So let's see," he thought aloud. "It starts at 7, and it takes 5 minutes to get to school, so that means we have to leave your house at like, 6:50." I love how he said LEAVE my house, like he would be there beforehand. He stopped to think.
"You can hang out before, if you want." I never would have thought that I would say that. Something about him just makes me break down the barriers I've had up for my whole life.
His smile grew and his dimples showed. He looked so cute.
"Yeah, I'd like that. I could probably come over at 6:30 then?"
"Mhm, sounds good." I smiled back at him. We were just gazing into each others' eyes.

Damn that bell for ringing and ruining it.
He stood up and offered his hand to me. I gladly accepted it and stood next to him. Adam was about a foot taller than me and I had to look up at him. My hair fell in my face. His hand brushed it away, gently running the back of his fingers on my cheek. A heat spread across my face. He motioned for me to exit the library first, then he followed, soon walking beside me down the hall to our next class. The corners of my lips turned up.
That smile would never leave my face.
