Part One

"Oh my gosh, did you see that guy's boots?" Ryan exclaimed, flipping his head back around behind him to get another glance. Riley shook his head and laughed, grabbing his shorter friend by the shirt to drag him along the sidewalk.
"You're so gay," Riley sighed, pushing him in front and shooting him a warning glare to keep moving.
"Blah, blah, blah, we've already covered that issue," Ryan said, rolling his eyes. He swung his arms as he walked smiling at every other New Yorker who passed him. Today the sun was shining, he finished all his college work, and it was just going to be him and his best friend hanging out the rest of the day outside, maybe shopping, and then kicking it back at the apartment to play some videogames until the sun rises on a Saturday morning. With that thought in the brunette's mind, he held his hand on one of the many streetlights and spun himself around it, hopping in front of Riley with a goofy grin before skipping a few shops down. Riley just shook his head and ran his fingers through his shaggy dirty-blonde hair and raising his eyebrow at a few girls that checked him out as he did so, boosting his ego. He picked up his chin and swaggered the rest of the way around the corner, smirking victoriously.

It was then that Ryan cam running back and bumped into him.
"Dude, what the—" Ryan pushed him to the other side of the building they were previously on before Riley could finished his sentence, peeking across the street.
"That's my ex," Ryan tried to explain with a low voice, turning back to Riley who had a concerned look on his face.
"The one that cheated on you?" he asked with an undertone of anger. Riley was very protective of Ryan when he needed to, and it made Ryan blush furiously.
"Yeah, and that's the bastard he did it with," he mumbled sadly, frowning and looking to the ground. Riley looked back at the couple, glaring at them.
"What should I do?" he suddenly said, lightly hitting Ryan on the shoulder. Ryan's brown eyes widened and he shook his head, folding his arms around himself.
"Don't do anything; I don't want him to think I'm some stalker with a body guard…"
"Come on, I can see it in your eyes—you hate that he's with that other guy," Riley pointed out, smacking his arm again to knock some sense into him. "And I hate to see you like this so let's man up and make that jerk jealous."

Ryan looked at him unsurely, staring into his intense green eyes to only realize he was dead serious and determined. Ryan sighed, swallowing to push the blush out of his cheeks.
"Fine…" he agreed. Riley smiled wickedly, grabbing his hand.
"Okay, so what we're going to do is walk by them holding hands and go from there," Riley said, grabbing Ryan's hand to start walking. Ryan pulled back and shook his head.
"If we're going to do this we're going to do it good," he commented, not as timid anymore because he knew Riley was always going to be there for him. "Now wrap your arm around me and keep you hand at my hip." Riley attempted to do as he instructed, but Ryan had to eventually do it for him, holding back a laugh at his inexperience and slight awkwardness. Riley's as straight as a line and just the fact that he would even think of doing this for him just proves how good of a friend he is.
"They're going to see," Riley, whispered, mildly nervous that they weren't ready. This had to look legit for it to work. "They're crossing the street!"
"Uh… Act like we're just turning the corner and looking all happy and stuff," Ryan told him quickly.

Riley nodded his head and Ryan gulped, seeing his ex coming closer. He had half a mind to go up to him and start yelling about how ugly the new slut was and how much hotter Riley was and that Ryan was the greatest thing that ever happened to him. But he refrained, and put on a show, leaning his head on Riley, playing up the whole thing as they smiled and laughed at nothing. The two both noticed that they had caught the attention of the target.
"Let go of me so that they can see both of us and hold my waist," Ryan muttered through his fake smile, twisting to lean against the wall. He hung his arms around Riley's neck. Riley's heart was beating faster than it ever had with any girl, and he was switching between his friend's eyes, feeling the cold hard stare of the ex.
"Should I kiss you?" he asked, forcing the waver out of his voice.
"Are you sure?" Ryan retaliated, feeling that this might have gone too far. He never wanted to make anything uncomfortable, but it felt so good to be this close to him.

Before he could give his emotions a second thought he found his eyes slipping shut as Riley kissed him with a passion. Riley witnessed the ex-boyfriend drop his jaw in shock and stare, firing up Riley even more. He fought an inner battle between his mind and heart; one telling him to keep going to raise the jealousy factor, but the other one said to keep going because this was the most electrifying kiss he has ever had. Either way he knew he didn't want it to ever end, and he had no intentions on doing that. He pulled back just enough to part his lips and smack them back together with even less space between them. He felt Ryan gasp silently and quickly as their tongues touched for the first time, both almost instantly getting tangled in the nameless sensation. Riley's hands freed themselves from their directed placement and took some liberty to hold Ryan's uncharacteristically blemish-free complexion, his cheeks fitting into his palms perfectly. To Riley's surprise he wasn't the one to pull back first. Ryan stared up at him with a red face, dazed and confused, panting somewhat.

"Ryan?" the ex said exasperated, standing wide-eyed and irritated. Ryan blinked back to reality, letting the lock of his fingers behind Riley's neck go as if he touched fire.
"Oh, hey, Kris!" Ryan happily said, acting as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. On the inside he was a melting mess, however.
"Who's that?" he went to the point, ignoring the angered look of his own toy hanging from his arm.
"Oh him?" Ryan played dumb, putting his hand on Riley's chest who had been watching this all go down as he collected his senses. "This is Riley, my amazing boyfriend. And I know what you're thinking; we haven't been dating for that long and how do we look so happy. Well, the truth is, we've known each other since, like, forever and we just fell in love!" He was smiling big and hugging Riley's side who kissed him on the forehead.
Wow, Riley began thinking, Ryan is really good at acting and if we can pull this off, we should audition for something.
"And who is he? Oh, I just love your sunglasses. Vintage is definitely going back in," Ryan complimented to Kris' boy, playing the nice, happy-go-lucky male. The faux blonde just tilted his head.
"Just a friend," Kris uttered unconvincingly, getting a death glare from the boy.
"Oh, well, I'm sorry we couldn't have worked out, I hope you're happy," Ryan finished harshly, turning around to waltz of with Riley in his hand.

They turned into Macys and both grinned genuinely at the accomplishment. Ryan patted his friend's chest rapidly, laughing with joy.
"We are so awesome!" he shouted, getting strange glances from others in the store. Riley rolled his eyes at him but agreed. "Did you see how pissed he was?!"
"Ha, yes I did, I was there too," Riley said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"That's right, you were there and you were brilliant! What's gets exes more jealous than to see them kissing someone else? Nothing!" Ryan clapped and skipped down the line of light jackets, Riley trailing behind automatically. "And not to swell your giant head," Ryan winked, absentmindedly checking out the articles he was fondling with, "but now I know why you can get so many girls." He blushed faintly, glancing away. Riley was flustered himself, shaking his hair into his face and fixing it as a distraction. This is the point where he would usually come up with a snarky remark but at the moment his brain was a puddle of goo.

"Hey, what's up?" Ryan said after a few more childish giggles. Riley just shook his head. "Did I do something wrong?"
"No, no," Riley stuttered, hating the fact that his friend always blamed himself for his problems. "I just… I don't know. I kind of want to go home."
"Oh, okay," Ryan blinked, slightly confused and completely oblivious to the real reason. "Do you want me to come with you?"
"If you want to stay longer you can," Riley told him, internally begging for him to want to stay.
"Okay, I'll do that," he smiled, running up to the blonde as he began to walk away. He gave him a quick hug from the back. "Thanks again."
"No problem," Riley swallowed, leaving as fast as he could. He hailed a cab and as he got in, sighed into his hands, rubbing his temples. Why, why, why did he have to start feeling this way?
